The eyes organize your movement -- Feldenkrais Classes Thanksgiving Week, 2018

Hi Everyone,

Tuesday and Saturday Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes this Thanksgiving week are alive and well!  Our class this week is a seated, pelvis, spinal, full body rotation lesson with a very large component of work with the eyes.

Freedom of eye movement is even more important than you may think. The six muscles that hold the eyeballs in place need to be fit and balanced as much if not more than other muscles in the body. Eye muscle fitness and good range of movement improves our ability to look in any direction at any time, improves general eye health and function, and most important of all, helps us to use the eyes more effectively to direct the organization of the skeleton.

This lesson also gives us ample opportunity to study unnecessary, parasitic contractions that have nothing to do with the movement we are doing. They occur in other parts of the body, sometimes hands, feet, jaw, etc.  Working with these helps us to reduce effort and force and refine our general movement.

Everyone was surprised after class at the increase in comfort and mobility, and improvement of skeletal organization -- far more than students had expected from a chair lesson.

There is only one class left this week, at 250 Bell St., Saturday at 10 am. If you want to come to class for the first time, please contact me using the contact form above and I'll send you the necessary info. Plan to come 15 mins early, but be sure to let me know.

Meanwhile, hoping you have a good week with your loved ones. So many of our near and dear are experiencing challenges.

Warm regards,
Carole
